Dear Love,
My salty, slightly sun-burned hands,
gripping the old, worn-smooth wooden handrails
just pulled me up the rickety, creaking stairs to my third-floor room
but only after sitting in an Adirondack chair on the veranda,
nourished by a spectacular sunset across Buzzards Bay and perhaps
one too many rose-colored cranberry cocktails. Now wondering
who slept in this bed last night.
My eyelids are heavy anticipating a dream of you.
Yours as always,
R
