Cape Codder Hotel Memories
The Cape Codder Hotel in Falmouth was a grand Dame.
I used to wander around the halls pretending
that I was a guest…not a trespasser
that lived at the end of the road.
The transom windows gave a clue
of how hot the rooms were.
No AC!
The rocking chairs were full
on a breezy night. The creaky floors
were in concert with strains of summer music.
The parking lot was full of big tour buses.
Did the guests wear name badges?
Shared baths kept the clientele humble
and furtive.
This era is past.
Only nostalgia remains.
