Purwin was a well-known artist who resided in Woods Hole, MA. He was a painter, muralist, sculptor, and print-maker as well as an inventor who discovered a technique called "thermo relief painting."
Purwin was invited to the Falmouth Public Library to perform a story-hour. In the course of the program, he recited stories and created the playful paintings which now hang in the hallway leading to the Children's Room.
