The Odyssey
Books from the Past
The few books from my youth that I have hung onto.
Wise Owl
Owls have spherical eyeballs they have "eye tubes" that go far back into their skulls—which means their eyes are fixed in place, which is why they have to turn their heads to see. The size of their eyes helps them see in the dark, and they're far-sighted, which allows them to spot prey from yards away. Up close, everything is blurry, and since they can't wear glasses they depend on small, hair-like feathers on their beaks and feet to feel their food.

Still Have Plenty of Library Books
Here are my bookshelves. And I really do keep them this neat.
There is one sentimental book in the lot - Mr. McFadden's Hallowe'en by Rumer Godden. I read it in the 6th grade and as a result, dressed up as a jack-o-lantern for book report day. Except instead of a pumpkin, I was a turnip. That's how they do it in Scotland.

Each morning I awaken to find my bedside books piled in a different order than the night before; each is fighting for ‘pride of place’, hoping to be the next one I will read!

Mermaids and Gardens
My bookshelves are small and mostly gardening books.
